Plate 03 — The belief

There's more to cannabis than what most shops put in front of you.

Carlos Valle
Owner & grower, Highline Apothecary

He opened in 2021 after visiting enough dispensaries to notice the same two gaps every time: the flower, and the person behind the counter who couldn't tell you a thing about it. Highline is the correction.

Plate 04 — Worth the drive

17

miles

That's how far the next dispensary is from our door.

Out here that number means something. Nobody wanders into a shop in Nashua on the way to somewhere else — people choose to make the drive, and they make it again only if the flower and the conversation were worth the gas.

That's a good pressure to build a business under. It's why the grow is controlled start to finish, and why nobody at this counter will hand you a jar and shrug.

Plate 05 — From behind the camera

I shot photographs for a living before I ever grew a plant. Same eye. Different subject.

It started in Covid. Growing was supposed to be something to do with the time — and then I fell for the process itself. The patience of it. Watching a thing come in slowly and correctly, the way you wait out light for a shot.

Around then I was visiting other places and coming away disappointed. Not once or twice — consistently. There were huge gaps: in the flower, and in the budtender experience. You'd ask a straightforward question and get nothing back worth having.

I have a strong belief there's more to cannabis than that. For me personally it was the best medicine I had. So in 2021 we opened the shop I wanted to walk into: flower we grow ourselves, and people at the counter who can actually tell you about it.

Plate 06 — The room

Wood walls, a long glass case, and time to talk.

It's a small shop in a small town. That's the advantage: nobody's rushing you through a line, and the person answering your question is the person who grew what's in the jar.

Plate 06 — Interior, 12 Porcupine Ln Nashua, Montana

Plate 07 — Hydroponic, start to finish

Grown in water,
watched the whole way.

Hydroponic means the plants are fed a water-based nutrient solution instead of soil. Nothing is left to whatever happened to be in the dirt — every input is measured, and every stage is somebody's decision rather than a guess.

That control is the entire point. It's how the same flower shows up the same way batch after batch, and it's why we can stand behind how it tastes. Carlos's word for the standard is pure — the process from finish to start.

01

Grown here

Our house flower is grown in-house, hydroponically — the same hands from the first week of the grow to the jar on the counter.

02

Controlled at every stage

Quality control runs the length of the grow, not just at the end. Problems get caught while there's still something to do about them.

03

Judged on taste

The thing people tell us we're known for is how good it tastes. That's the bar a batch has to clear before it goes in a jar.

04

Explained at the counter

Ask what you're looking at and you'll get a real answer. Knowing the flower is half of what we're actually selling.

Flower is what people
drive here for.

Everything else on the shelf matters. But flower is the reason the shop exists, the thing Carlos learned to grow first, and the product most people leave with.

Plate 12 — Delivery & curbside, for medical

Two medical ways
to skip the counter.

Delivery is available for medical. Rural Montana is a long way between doors, so call and we'll work out the details with you rather than guess at them on a website.

Curbside pickup is for medical too. Registered Montana cardholders can call an order in, park out front, and we'll bring it to the car. Have your card and photo ID ready — both get checked at the car the same as at the counter. Everyone else, come say hello inside.

Before you
make the drive.

Not here? Call 406 263 7269 — a person picks up.

No — we're closed Monday and Thursday. We're open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 7pm. If you're driving in, those two closed days are the ones that catch people out.

Do you take cards?

We take cash. There's an ATM inside the shop if you need to pull some out when you get here.

Can I order online?

Yes. Our live menu runs through Leafly — browse exactly what's on the shelf right now and build your order for in-store pickup. Or call 406 263 7269 during open hours and we'll put it together for you. Medical cardholders can choose curbside or delivery.

Do you deliver?

Delivery is available for medical. Curbside pickup is for registered Montana medical cardholders too — call your order in, park out front, and we'll bring it to the car. Give us a ring and we'll work out the details.

What should I bring the first time?

A valid government-issued photo ID — every visit, no exceptions — and cash, or use the ATM inside. Medical customers, bring your Montana card. And tell us it's your first time; that's the part we're good at.

How far are you from other towns?
